Galls, Diseases, and Pests - Olive Fruit Fly
Bactrocera oleae
Previous Plant    Back to Thumbnails    Next Plant

The Olive Fruit Fly had not been seen in the United States before 1998, when it was found in Southern California. Now it can be found across the state. The fly can be a problem for commercial olive production, but control methods are now in place across the region. Olive trees at Rockville are mostly around the perimeter of the park in neighbors' backyards.
